Specialized, one-on-one physical therapy for people living with spinal cord injury, led by a board-certified neurologic clinical specialist.
Yes. Whether your injury happened last month or many years ago, a specialized neurologic program can help you build strength, independence, and confidence. Research shows the nervous system can keep adapting years after injury, so it is never too late to work toward meaningful goals.
NeuroElite PT works with adults living with tetraplegia and paraplegia, complete and incomplete injuries, from traumatic and non-traumatic causes. Your plan is built around what matters to you, whether that's transferring more safely, pushing your chair farther, standing, walking, or using your hands for daily tasks.
Every session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, built around your goals. Depending on your level of injury and what you want to accomplish, therapy may include:
Progress is tracked with objective measures, so you can see exactly how you're improving.
Yes. ARC-EX is a noninvasive spinal cord stimulation technology used during therapy sessions. Small electrodes are placed on the skin over the spine, and the stimulation is paired with targeted exercise.
Dr. Young has hands-on clinical experience using ARC-EX with individuals with spinal cord injury. If you're curious about ARC-EX, we're happy to talk through whether it may fit your goals.
Spinal cord injury rehabilitation is a specialty. Dr. Lauren Young is a board-certified neurologic clinical specialist (NCS) who has extensive experience treating individuals with spinal cord injury and teaches continuing education courses on spinal cord injury and spasticity management for physical therapists nationwide.
She is also a founding board member of United Spinal of Acadiana, supporting people living with spinal cord injury and disease in our community.
Staying active is one of the best ways to protect the gains you've made. Our adaptive fitness classes are designed by a neuro specialist to help you stay active after therapy. Classes are full-body workouts, with seated adaptations available if you're unable to stand.
If your current chair isn't working for you, our custom wheelchair evaluations are available as a standalone service. You don't need to be in therapy to schedule one.
No. Many people make meaningful gains in strength, function, and independence years after a spinal cord injury. We'll set realistic, measurable goals together at your first visit.
